The Axio Zoom.v16 is the perfect balance between a stereo and a compound microscope. Axio Zoom.V16 bridges the gap between traditional stereo microscopy and compound microscopy, combining a large field of view with high optical resolution for detailed imaging of larger specimens.

The single-channel optical system also eliminates parallax which is inherently present in stereo microscopes. Parallax introduces an angular bias to your image which can create a misleading image of your samples. Our Discovery series of stereo microscopes can compensate for parallax, however, you can have confidence in the Axio Zoom to produce reliable data for all images.

When inspecting small features, magnification alone does not determine image quality. Optical resolution determines whether closely spaced features can actually be distinguished from one another.

The comparison above shows the same line-pair resolution target imaged at 70× with a ZEISS SteREO Discovery.V12 and a ZEISS Axio Zoom.V16. While both systems provide the same nominal magnification, Axio Zoom.V16 resolves substantially finer line patterns and produces greater separation between closely spaced features.

This illustrates an important distinction between the two microscope platforms: a stereo microscope is optimized for three-dimensional observation and working distance, while Axio Zoom.V16 is designed for high-resolution imaging across a large field of view.

For materials science and industrial applications, the additional resolving power can be particularly valuable when examining fine surface features, electronics, semiconductor components, fractures, defects and other small structures.
